Spice-like products and cannabinoid receptor agonists continue to
inhabit the news. Although the DEA has not yet controlled the
chemicals found in these products at the federal level, they are
being controlled on a state-by-state basis.
Also, as last year's alphabetamines fade in Europe, they are drawing
more publicity in the U.S. This week, the ONDCP (the drug czar's
office) issued a press release warning about recreational
psychoactive chemicals packaged as "bath salts".
On February 3, 1998, Nicholas Saunders--well-known author of three
books on MDMA and founder of Ecstasy.org--died at age 60 in a car
accident in South Africa. At the time, he was researching a book on
