“La psilocibina, un nuevo alucinógeno, y sus posibilidades terapéuticas en psicoterapia”.
Acta Neuropsiquiat. Argent.. 1961;7:143-144.
Abstract
Psilocybin (mean dose: 10-14 mg. orally or parenterally) causes change of mood and affect, visual hallucinations and temporal and spacial change of orientation, euphoria according to thought association and frame of mind. In certain cases regression results, loosening of the ego protection mechanism and increased "insight". It antagonizes serotonin more than LSD and increases the alpha rhythm in the EEG. . In personal studies the following observations were made: the Psilocybin intoxication is pleasant because of the peculiarities of the "insight". The patient realizes his memories and feels his conflicts under a less intensive reaction of mind. The regressive effect is not so pronounced. The duration of effect is shorter and the neuroautonomic sensations are less than after LSD. . The drug is more convenient to handle than LSD, the sessions are not as dramatic and long-lasting. . It cannot yet be said, in which cases Psilocybin or LSD is preferable. Psilocybin is useful under the same precautions as LSD (including supervision of the patient).
